Apple Cake

Ingredients...

[1] 3 cups all-purpose flour
[2] 1 cup sugar
[3] 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
[4] 1/2 teaspoon salt
[5] 1 teaspoon cinnamon
[6] 1/4 teaspoon allspice
[7] 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
[8] 1 cup buttermilk
[9] 1/2 (1 stick) cup butter, melted
[10] 1 large egg

2 cups chopped, unpeeled apples (about 1 1/2 apples)
[13] 1/2 cup chopped almonds

Method...

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 10-inch tube pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, soda, salt, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg.

2. Stir in buttermilk, butter and egg just until combined. Fold in apples and almonds. Spoon into pan.

3. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until center springs back when lightly pressed with fingertip. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Turn out onto serving plate and cool completely.
